Gorgeous Girls In Supply Chain: Danielle Chaffin
Welcome to our series celebrating the incredible women in Supply Chain and Logistics! In a traditionally male-dominated field, it's important to shine a light on the inspiring women who are making a significant impact. Through a mix of insightful and fun questions, we’ll explore their journeys, challenges, and successes. While we acknowledge the contributions of everyone in this industry, this series aims to elevate the voices and stories of women who often get missed. Let’s get to know Danielle Chaffin.
What is your current role and company?
Senior Sales/Solutions Engineer @Revenova
How did you end up in the world of supply chain?
I was born into it—my grandfather retired from truck driving at 77, and my father followed in his footsteps, now in a leadership role. I vividly remember sitting at the computer (dinosaur desktop) with my grandmother, helping her find loads for my grandpa. After attempting to break free from the industry with a Master's in Social Work, I found myself back in logistics. It seems you can't escape your destiny!
What is your favourite part of your work day?
Hearing the stories of others in the industry. With every conversation, there are great insights, experiences, and perspectives that make the logistics world endlessly fascinating. Despite my love for Confluence and my Notes app (chaotic), my spiral notebook is full of quotes and nuggets from those conversations. And, of course, a good vent session with my favorite co-workers. Thank you, Brett, Alex, Zack, and Scott for always listening and laughing with me!
What is the least favourite part of your work day?
Checking my email inbox. Can we return to phone conversations, please?! Email thread, 2-15 days in length = Phone call, 5-30 minutes.
What is a systemic issue in your part of the supply chain that concerns you currently?
Disconnected, siloed technology systems. Many companies rely on siloed systems that communicate poorly with each other, leading to inefficiencies, data fragmentation, and delayed decision-making. Fragmentation slows down innovation.
How would you address it if you had the power, money, or influence?
I would spearhead the development of an AI-powered integration platform. This platform would focus on automating data mapping and validation across systems, using machine learning to ensure seamless data flow between silos. I'd work with key stakeholders— software providers, logistics companies, legal counsel— to create open standards for data exchange. The platform would be scalable and adaptable, able to evolve with emerging technologies and new supply chain models.
What is one piece of advice you have for young women entering your field?
Keep going, it will be worth it. There will be times when you're talked over, disregarded, or even ignored. But those moments are opportunities to learn—you’ll emerge a stronger leader and mentor because of them. Stay resilient, and trust your value. You may cry and need a good vent session—that’s normal, and honestly, I encourage it.
What are your top 3 podcasts? (do not have to be industry related)
Who are your top 5 women in supply chain to follow on LinkedIn?
How do you deal with creeps you encounter in your work day?
I don’t really deal with creeps—I just don’t engage. Maybe it’s part ADHD, part autism, or just the fact that I don’t do small talk. My conversations are strictly focused on work and the industry, so there’s no room for anything else.
What is your favourite way to unwind?
Hanging out with my boys-Judah (3) and Ezra (8)
Historical fiction books or a puzzle
Taking a walk or rollerblading
What have you recently changed your mind about?
Electric vehicles. I've always been a fan of Elon Musk and my 8-year-old is obsessed with Tesla. I'm a strong supporter of fuel-powered vehicles, but I've come to appreciate the incredible value that EVs bring to our world— technologically and economically. I’m excited to see how they evolve alongside traditional fuel-powered vehicles.
5 must haves to get you thru the day?
