CHRISTINA GINDI
I can’t tell you how excited I get when the menfolk take the time to nominate a woman for this series. I personally have had a few interactions with Christina and I find her charming and very supportive. The person that nominated her had this to day - “I’ve known Christina for quite some time now, and during that time I continue to discover not just how amazing she is as a person, but also her outstanding dedication and commitment to her work. She has overcome many obstacles to get where she is, and I believe she is very deserving of this opportunity to feature everything she’s accomplished. Her work ethic is impeccable, and she is always striving to be the best she can be!”
What is your current role and company?
Sr. Manager, Talent Acquisition at U.S. Xpress
How did you end up in the world of supply chain?
I am originally from Egypt, born and raised in the Middle East, but came to the US for school. I had plans to return after graduation due to not being interested in any available opportunities. That was until a leader from US Xpress contacted me just before graduation with a job offer. Although I had no prior experience in transportation, I figured, why not give it a shot? I just hit my 5-year anniversary and here I am, still in the game! I have gained a deep understanding of the intricacies of transportation and supply chain, and still learning something new each day. It may not always sound glamourous, but it offers immense potential and has real, substantial impact.
What is your favourite part of your work day?
The moment I successfully track down that perfect candidate and knowing it’s someone who’s about to join our company and shake things up. That thrill of discovery never gets old. I feel like a matchmaker—just with fewer wedding bells and more onboarding papers.
What is the least favourite part of your work day?
A little contradictory but it’s the (1) endless emails - some need to be answered right away, some are just unnecessary noise, and I’m convinced some are sent just to test my sanity. (2) The meetings that could have been emails. Nothing quite compares to sitting through a meeting about a meeting.
What is a systemic issue in your part of the supply chain that concerns you currently?
An issue I see is the lack of using data and predictive tools to plan within recruiting. Too many companies wait for problems like high turnover or skill gaps to become urgent before they act. This leads to inefficiency and missed opportunities.
How would you address it if you had the power, money, or influence?
I’d use data and AI to predict future talent needs. By analyzing trends—like industry growth, market shifts, and even internal data—we could see where and when we’ll need new hires or skills. This would help create a talent pool we could tap into long before positions open up. Plus, it could help identify potential issues with existing employees so we can act before they leave. By planning with data, we can save time and make smarter decisions, all while reducing costs and improving overall performance.
What is one piece of advice you have for young women entering your field?
Don’t wait for permission to take a seat at the table, take it! Show up with your ideas, your confidence, and your unique perspective. Women often hesitate to speak up because they don’t want to come across as "too much." If you don’t speak up, someone else will, so why not you?
What are your top 3 podcasts? (do not have to be industry related)
I don’t listen to podcasts but have heard snippets of What the Truck and have always enjoyed those.
Who are your top 5 women in supply chain to follow on LinkedIn?
How do you deal with creeps you encounter in your work day?
The creeps are easy to spot and even easier to handle. Thanks to lots of training from my older brothers, I’ve perfected the art of the “you are not welcome here” stare. I don’t entertain inappropriate behavior. It’s all about keeping professional boundaries clear. If you wouldn’t say it in front of a group of coworkers, don’t say it to me.
What is your favourite way to unwind?
I’m all about a good TV binge—90 Day Fiancé, Survivor, Scandal... the perfect mix of drama and strategy. I also love a dinner and debrief with my husband, or a girls’ night out. And the perfect therapy for me is going full-on OCD deep cleaning the house while blasting music.
What have you recently changed your mind about?
I’ve recently changed my mind about the “always-on” hustle culture. I used to think that success meant being glued to my laptop 24/7, but I’ve realized that burning out doesn’t help anyone. Balance is key, and sometimes that means stepping away from work to let your brain breathe. I’m a big advocate for working smarter, not harder.
